A Physician's Journey

Dr. R. Lee Sharma brings a unique blend of clinical and mediation expertise to medical conflict resolution. Her career began after graduating from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1993, followed by training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Dr. Lee Sharma is a gynecologist who has been in private practice in Auburn, Alabama since 1997.  She holds a Master’s degree in Conflict Resolution and consults for physicians and hospitals on conflict analysis and dispute system design. Her podcast “Scalpel and Sword” deals with conflict and negotiation in the medical arena. She is also a graduate of teachDX, a program to provide clinicians with tools for teaching clinical diagnostic skills.  Dr. Sharma has worked for over thirty years as an advocate for patients through local, state, and national medical organizations. She was recently named Chief Medical Officer of PATHS, a technology company which specializes in modifiable patient education platforms.

Expertise and Education

She has over a decade of experience in Quality Assurance, which informs her consulting practice. In 2001, she earned her Master's Degree in Conflict Resolution from Columbia College, SC, a foundational step that led to numerous published articles and successful mediations for physicians and hospitals.
